Allah Ta’ala berfirman:
"Mereka mencerca orang-orang yang memberi sedekah dengan sukarela dan
(mencerca) orang-orang yang tidak memperoleh, melainkan menurut
tangganya, lalu mereka diejekan. Nanti ALLAH akan mengejek
pengejek-pengejek itu dan mereka
memperoleh siksaan yang pedih." Al-Baraah [9]: 79
Tidak seharusnya kita
menjadikan sedikitnya sedekah tetangga sebagai bahan pembicaraan untuk
mengejeknya. Jangan menghina seseorang yang sudah berbaik sekalipun
perbuatan yang mereka lakukan sangat sederhana. Larangan untuk saling
mengejek dan mentertawakan sesama muslin ini juga tertera dalam Firman
Allah SWT:
"Hai orang-orang yang
beriman! Janganlah sekumpulan orang laki-laki mengejek (menertawakan)
kumpulan yang lain. Boleh jadi (yang diejekan ) itu lebih baik dari
mereka (yang mengejek). Dan jangan pula sekumpulan wanita mengejek
(menertawakan) kumpulan wanita lain. Boleh jadi ( yang diejekan ) itu
lebih baik dari mereka (yang mengejek). Dan janganlah kamu suka mencela
bangsamu, dan janganlah memanggilkan orang dengan gelaran (yang
mengandung ejekan)! Jahat sesudah beriman, itulah nama yang amat buruk!
Siapa yang tiada berhenti dari kesalahannya, itulah orang-orang yang
zalim," Al-Hujurat [49]: 11
